When I first decided to become a Communication/Public Relations major, I knew absolutely NOTHING about the field of PR. I didn't even know what PR was until I googled it. Once deciding on PR, I had to begin to figure out where I wanted to work.
Before this course, I was sure I wanted to work for a non-profit. Now I can see myself either in the non-profit field or working for a PR Agency. I'm not too fond of the idea of working for a corporation, but you can never say "never."
I came into the class 100% sure I wanted to work as an event coordinator for a non-profit, and my dream companies were the Make-A-Wish Foundation or the American Cancer Society. I love working with people and planning events for a good cause, so I feel like it would be the perfect fit.
I could also see myself as a public relations specialist. The more I learn about PR the more I feel like it's something I could really love doing, so I feel like this job would be a good fit. As a PR specialist, you make sure programs are created to match public attitudes and make sure an organization is seen in a positive light by the public (thanks google for telling me this!). I still don't know much about this type of job, which is probably why I'm still leaning towards a career in non-profit.
