What message does a slogan send?

Subway's Message: Eat Fresh

The message is trying to promote healthy eating by saying Subway's products are fresh and their competitor's products are not.

The good: Subway's message of "Eat Fresh" sums up what Subway is about: providing fresh, healthy foods to customers.

The bad: It's misleading.  "Eat Fresh" implies that their food is fresh and not processed, when in reality their meats and cheeses are processed.  Plus, they are a fast food restaurant so there's no way that they could provide fresh foods in a timely manner and in large quantities.

In conclusion: Even though the slogan is misleading, it's effective overall because it promotes healthier eating and gets to the core of what Subway is all about.  Plus, it links "Subway" with "fresh" which is definitely a good thing.

Publics: The message has a target public of those who are watching their weight, want to eat healthy, and care about eating fresh foods.  Basically, the "health conscious" people.

What makes a comment a GOOD comment?

Comments are ESSENTIAL when it comes to blogging.  They're important for the writer because it gives them feedback and reassurance.  Comments are HUGE morale boosters for the writer because it helps you feel like you're not writing to an empty audience.

Comments are a way to show an author that you're engaged in what they're saying, and it lets them know how YOU feel about something.  As a writer, I know that we all write to an audience.  So as the audience, let an author know how you feel or even what you'd like to see.

Here's my advice when it comes to leaving comments on blogs:
1. Make them short, sweet, and to the point.  No one likes to read long blog comments.

2. Don't argue through blog comments.  Grow a pair and argue face-to-face.

3. Don't spam a person's blog with links to websites unless it's relevant.  And never say, "check out my blog!"  If they want to look at your blog, they will.

4. Ask questions!!  How else do you expect to spark a conversation?

5. And most importantly....Make sure your comments are grammatically correct.  No one wants to read a post where capitalization and periods don't exist.

Remember: Commenting on other people's blogs will bring more traffic to YOUR blog.
